Timelapse – Upgrading to Mac OS X Lion

In keeping with my recent obsession with timelapse videos, I bring you my upgrade experience to Mac OS X Lion in 59 seconds!

The complete process took about an hour and a half. The download itself from the Mac App Store took 45 minutes on a 20Mbps ADSL connection. Lightning fast compared to if I had to drive to my nearest Apple Store and back! Granted, it’s nothing like the experience of queuing up for a new shiny OS launch at the fruit store (and getting a free apple t-shirt) but the minimalist in me is celebrating the extinction of physical media (for OS upgrades at least).

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to have words with my brain about this whole new way of scrolling in Lion. I leave you with some shots from when I queued up at the Apple Store for the launch of Mac OS Leopard (10.5) back in October 2007! How things have changed since!
